Hi! I'm Joanie, founder and owner of Sustainable StitchCraft. I transform reclaimed and recycled materials into your new favorite accessories.
Coming from a long line of crafty women, I learned the value of handmade.
It lasts longer, requires more thought, and the final products are unique!
These values are carried through everything I make with Sustainable StitchCraft.
The idea behind Sustainable StitchCraft began with the plastic bag ban in New York.
My mom had made reusable tote bags in the 90s that are still going strong. I adapted her design and the rest is history!
I decided that if I was going to have a business, I'd better do something good with it.
That's why I use reclaimed and recycled materials. It's my effort to combat the annual 17 million tons of textile waste. (estimated by the EPA)
All off cuts from my projects are also saved from landfills and turned into filling for pet beds which are donated to the local SPCA.
